Creating an Entrance Mat Inspection and Cleaning Log
An operations log turns entrance mat maintenance into a location-based record. It should show what was observed, what was done and what still requires attention, rather than only recording that the area was cleaned.

Selection considerations
Identify each entrance by the installed mat code, panel layout and agreed maintenance instructions. Set inspection frequency through the facility plan and actual use conditions; do not infer a universal interval from a catalogue photograph or category.
Record insert condition, frame condition, recess cleanliness and any loose or damaged components found using the permitted inspection method. Note changes in entrance use, nearby construction or cleaning products that may affect the assembly. Assign unresolved observations to a responsible person.
After maintenance, record the components replaced and the reopening check. Retain photographs for repeated concerns and link them to earlier observations. This history helps the operator order the correct spare parts and distinguish recurring issues from isolated damage.
Before you specify or order
- Identify each entrance assembly
- Record condition as well as cleaning
- Assign unresolved observations
- Log replacement component references

Common question
Should the log contain only completed work?
No. Include unresolved concerns and follow-up responsibility so they are not lost between cleaning shifts.
