Setting the Orientation of Entrance Mat Strips

BULDX product guides2 min read

Mat strip orientation should be decided on a plan and checked with a physical sample. It affects the visible layout and the way the assembly relates to the entrance route, without establishing performance from appearance alone.

Selection considerations

Mark the principal approaches, doors and adjacent floor pattern. Identify whether the selected system has a required orientation or panel arrangement in its documentation. Distinguish an architectural preference from a supplier requirement so the installer knows which conditions are fixed.

Place a sample at the intended orientation and review frame positions and panel seams. A small swatch rotated on a desk may not reveal how a full-width assembly looks from the entry. Where there are several approaches, record the accepted layout rather than making separate assumptions for each door.

Keep orientation arrows and location references on the approved manufacturing drawing. At delivery and installation, use the same reference to identify panels and avoid accidental rotation. Reopen the layout review if the door arrangement or surrounding floor pattern changes.

Before you specify or order

  • Mark entrance approaches
  • Confirm supplier orientation requirements
  • Review a physical sample
  • Keep orientation on manufacturing drawings

Common question

Can the installer rotate a custom mat to suit the floor pattern?

Only if the approved layout and selected system permit it. Check panel, frame and use requirements before changing orientation.
