Waterproof movement bands: width is only one selection field
Select a waterproof movement band by the joint detail, movement requirement and bonding system. Overall band width is not automatically the width of the movement zone.

Selection considerations
Check the section drawing for bonded edges and the central working area. Record substrate type, moisture condition and the geometry of the opening. The available bonding surface can be as important as the nominal band width.
Ask for compatible adhesive, preparation and connection details as part of the same system. Compare bends, corners and terminations before ordering straight lengths. Do not infer water-pressure resistance or movement capacity from a material name alone. Keep those requirements as documented project-specific checks.
Before you specify or order
- Distinguish bonded edges from the working zone
- Confirm substrate preparation
- Include connections and terminations

Common question
Is a wider band always the better choice?
No. It must fit the movement and bonding detail, including the available substrate on each side.
