Protecting Finishing Profiles During Site Storage
Site storage should protect both profile geometry and the approved finish. A correctly ordered trim can become unsuitable if it is bent, contaminated or scratched before the installer receives it.

Selection considerations
Agree a storage area and handling route before delivery. Keep long profiles supported according to the supplier's instructions and avoid placing other materials on their packaging. Identify the product code, finish and intended zone without removing the original labels prematurely.
Inspect packages on receipt and record visible damage before distribution. Keep wet, dirty or damaged materials separate for review. Do not assume protective film can remain indefinitely or be removed at any convenient stage; follow the supplied handling and removal instructions.
Issue complete, identified packages to the installation team and record returns. Store usable offcuts separately from rejected pieces, with their section and finish still identifiable. At handover, retain labelled spare components rather than a mixed collection whose material and geometry cannot be traced.
Before you specify or order
- Agree storage and handling arrangements
- Preserve package identification
- Record delivery damage
- Separate usable spares from rejects

Common question
Does protective film remove the need for careful handling?
No. It does not prevent bending or every surface defect, and its handling requirements still need to be followed.
